I have been married to the love of my life for 21 years but we have been together for 30 years and we have always believed God meant for us to be together. Our families wanted to always share in the joy of our happiness so in 1997 we made it official according to the State of Ohio's laws by getting married. I have always felt it is just a piece of paper. That God had already married us when we said our vows to each other in front of him 30 years ago in our own way.
So in celebrating of it and Stampin' Up's! 30 years I wanted everyone to share in the joys. Today is the last day to enter in my 30 Days of Luau. Hurry get your comments in while you can!
Now for the last Luau item.
Sea Shells
I wanted to create a seashell shaped box with the window box thinlit but for the life of me I could not get my mojo going. I went through all my dsp and folders trying to figure out how to create it. Still no luck. While I was on FB on the Demonstrator Planning Place for us demonstrators and asked for help. The response was excellent. I want to thank Vicks Craft, Amanda Syapin-Sandy and Evelyn Stone for their help with this project. You ladies rock!
Vicks Craft suggested using the Seaside embossing folder which I did not have out at the time and thought....(smack on head) "I have that folder!", Amanda Syapin-Sandy suggested the ruffle folder. I decided to go with the seaside folder for the lid top. Evelyn Stone suggested adding some pearls (another smack on the head.) Boy I definitely had no mojo that day.
Here is what my first box looked like, I was not happy with it it:(
I tried to free hand draw a shell top and add some scoring to give dimension.
Here it is with the ladies suggestions. I am quite happy with it:)
Front of box and side of the box I used double sided sticky tape and then added sand, then I added three pearls to each side of the box. I finsished off the front with some linen thread wrapped around the box and a tropical element glued down with a glue dot.
Top of box using the seaside embossing folder. I embossed a piece of whisper white and then cut it to the lid box shape and glued it on. I did not want the hole box embossed. I then added some pearls.
Have you ever held a sea shell up to your ear to hear the ocean?
